Dave Portnoy pizza review in Wayne, NJ
The Dave Portnoy pizza review in Wayne, NJ. He walked into Wayne Ale House, tried the 24 inch, and gave it a 7.6.
The review plays right here from Barstool’s own YouTube channel. Prefer the app? Watch it on YouTube.
What the Dave Portnoy pizza review score actually means
One Bite runs on a simple rule: one bite, everybody knows the rules. Dave Portnoy has scored thousands of pizzerias across the country on that single bite, and the scale is famously stingy. A 7.6 puts a pizza firmly in the range he tells people to go eat.
He tried our pizza in February 2025 and put Wayne on the board. The pie he reviewed is the 24 inch that comes out of the oven every day, cooked well done with a slight char, the way we have always made it.

What he actually said
“It’s huge. It’s monster. This is like eating pizza in Texas.”
“This pizza barely fits in the whole bar.”
The best moment never made the thumbnail. Before Dave took the bite, a regular at the bar called it: 76, Davey. He went 7.6 on the nose and had to give it up, my people know me better than I know myself. By the time he walked in, 90 people had already scored the pizza on the One Bite app, and the average was a 9.

What the Dave Portnoy pizza review means for a Friday night
A One Bite score is one man, one slice, one take, and Portnoy has handed out enough of them that the number carries weight. A 7.6 puts us in the range he reserves for pizza he would go back for, which in North Jersey is a crowded field and a hard room.
Nothing changed here afterwards. Same dough, same oven, same people. That is the part worth saying out loud, because plenty of places get a score and then start treating the reviewed pie as a special occasion item.
Where to find the pie from the Dave Portnoy pizza review
The pie he reviewed is the 24 inch, on the menu seven days at Wayne Ale House. House made sauce, Grande mozzarella, cooked well done. It comes in 12, 16 and 24 inch, and the 24 inch is the same recipe stretched further. Gluten free is a 12 inch with its own dough. Nothing about it is a limited run.

Past the Dave Portnoy pizza review
Portnoy reviewed the pizza, but the wings are the other thing regulars order twice. They slow bake at a low temperature for three hours, then get flash fried in beef tallow right before they go out, so the meat falls off the bone and the skin stays crisp under the sauce. Everything is on the menu page, and half price pizza runs nine to eleven, Monday through Friday.
Try the pie he tried
The 24 inch comes red or white, and it is on the menu seven days a week. Order it ahead, or come in and watch it barely fit on the table.
